Time to Join the Foam rolling recovery party!
Estimated reading time 2 minutes
Running a half marathon or 10K is no joke. It is strenuous on the body and on the mind. Many racers find that their legs are sore for days after a race, regardless of how fit they are. You can ease muscle soreness by using a foam roller. A foam roller breaks down knots and loosens tight muscles and thus helps get you back on your feet quicker.
Neil Boniface, a qualified Personal Trainer, with over 20 years experience participating in a wide range of sports at a high standard, including running at International level, Neil knows the demands that sport can put on the body. His expertise in this area allow for a range of different techniques to prevent, rehabilitate and strengthen.

Neil says, “Barns Green Half Marathon is one of my favourite running events on the calendar. Amongst all the times that I’ve run, the race that stands out for me is 2017. It was my first BG half as a veteran and the competition was very competitive, I managed to come first and clock one of my fastest times on the course. As well as competing when I can, either being the half or 10k, I also help organise the pacers with Kirsty for both events.
Now I am a vet runner I have to manage my training more efficiently. This would include more rest/recovery, cross training and sports massage. I use a foam roller almost after all my races and sessions. Using alongside professional sports massage and applying the correct technique a foam roller can be a very useful tool for any athlete at any level”.
