£30,000 in Donations to Charities after 2025 race

After a few years challenging years because of the pandemic, this year Run Barns Green saw record levels of race numbers and increased sponsorship. As a result, profits from the 2025 event mean that a record £30,000 will be donated to all the wonderful organisations, societies and sports clubs that provide volunteers to help with the organisation and running of the event. This is a 250% increase on the £12,000 of donations which were given out in 2024.

Run Barns Green is run entirely by volunteers who serve on the committee. It also relies on the wonderful support from a small army of helpers in the form of groups, societies, sports clubs and individuals from in and around the village who work tirelessly over the race week end.

In the last few years, the event has grown from one race to four and a huge effort has been made by the organising committee to target new runners for the races and to drastically reduce our costs. We have also had significant success in increasing contributions from various local sponsors.  This effort has been rewarded and we are delighted that we are able to make donations to all our friends and supporters which totals £30,000.  This includes a £2,500 donation to the campaign to save the field opposite the pub.  The event also helped our official charity, St Catherine’s Hospice. We donated £6,000 to St Catherine’s and this wonderful charity also raised a huge amount of money through donations from over 150 runners who ran in the event on their behalf.

Run Barns Green needs so much work to make it happen, and there is little point in doing all that work if we can’t give something significant back to the village.  Hopefully we will continue to get great help from everyone and we can move forward confident that this unique and brilliant local event can continue for many years to come.

Thank you all for your great support.
