Run Barns Green – The South’s Number 1 Rated Family Running Event

The prestigious Racecheck Awards show Run Barns Green to be the top-rated family running event in the South. Following the successful launch last year of a new 5K race, Run Barns Green now offers races for the entire family. This year will see the 42nd running of the half marathon race which is open to all those over the age of eighteen, the 10K race is open to anyone over the age of sixteen and the 5K race is open to anyone aged twelve and over. The portfolio is completed by the Jennings Junior Jog which is for youngsters aged from 4 to 11. All the races will take place on Sunday 29th September 2024. The 5K race will start at 9.50am with the Half Marathon starting at 10.05 am and the 10K race setting off at 10.25 am. The Jennings Junior Jog will begin around 12.30 pm
This terrific village event first started in 1982 and for the first 34 years of the event, there was only the Half Marathon race. In 2016 the 10K race distance was added and in 2022 the Jennings Junior Jog was introduced followed last year by the new 5K race. All the races help to raise funds for the event’s official charity, St Catherine’s Hospice.
Chairman of Run Barns Green, Richard Oram commented, “Our portfolio of races now means that we are truly an event for the whole family and one of the few events in the County that offers people of all ages the chance to take part in a number of professionally organised races on the same day”.
The half marathon, 10K and 5K races follow routes on closed roads through some of the most scenic countryside in West Sussex. The half marathon and 10K races also go through the magnificent grounds of Christ’s Hospital School and throughout the race routes, live bands are playing to encourage the runners. There is plenty of free parking, water stations, and chip timing for each runner in the adult races. There are also pacemakers running who will help runners achieve their target finish time as well as quality medals for all finishers.
The 2024 Run Barns Green will take place on 29th September and entries are already open.
