COVID-19 Statement
Estimated reading time 3 minutes
Whilst the Run Barns Green committee welcomes the easing of mandatory measures which will see the return of our event, it should be borne in mind that a significant percentage of the adult population will not have been fully vaccinated and that those under the age of 18 years may not have been vaccinated at all. Participants, officials and spectators will be in this group and can catch and spread the virus.
Therefore, it is important that for the well-being of the committee, marshals, runners and spectators we would ask you to follow the following guidelines:
Take a look at the full update from England Athletics link click here.
You can also read the full details of current guidance issued by Run Britain link - click here.
All marshals and staff helping at the event and around the course will be issued with PPE and wear gloves and a mask when in close contact with runners or large groups.
As many race packs as possible will be posted out ahead of the event and event communications will be sent via email in the lead-up to race day.
Please limit the number of belongings you bring to the event and if possible, leave anything in a car. This is in order to reduce contact between runners and staff. There will be an informal self-service bag drop area within the start and finish area for runners who need it. Please note items are left at your own risk.
You will see clear signage around the start and finish area, please follow all signage and instructions from the marshals before, during and after the race.
Track and trace are still required if you have to enter the village hall or the Sports and Social club.
There will be multiple hygiene stations around the start and finish area with hand sanitiser for all runners.
There will be a manned, and clearly marked, medical facility in the village hall along with other strategically placed units around the course.
During the race
- We would like to ask that masks be worn before the start and when you have crossed the finish line.
- The race will start in waves based on your estimated finish time, with the faster runners at the start and slower near the back to avoid any congestion and the need to overtake on course.
- There will be an informal grab-and-go water station on the course, however, we would ask that you stay hydrated before the event and if you are able to please bring your own. Bottles and camelbacks will be permitted.
- If you need to overtake on the course, please give a wide berth of at least 1 meter around any runners or members of the public
- Spitting and nasal clearance during the race is not permitted.
After the race
- Do not stop at the finish line. Please continue and collect your medal.
- When waiting to be de-tagged, please try and maintain at least 1m distance between other runners
- De-taggers will have suitable PPE protection
- Once de-tagged please collect your water and move to the open space beyond the sterile area.
